How to Improve Business Translation
Few businesses these days fail to appreciate that they can increase sales and profits by opening their doors to the global market. However, there is more to it than just advertising their products on their company website. The main barrier is language. As long as the business concentrates on supplying products to the same language area, then the flow of information each way is simple, even if there are still cultural differences which can influence the way the business may be viewed. For penetrating a market beyond the familiar, there is a serious need to use business translation services. Do some research and find out where you should focus your sales pitch. Where are the principal markets where your products are most likely to be favorably received? That will cut down on the number of languages you need to translate your website and other marketing material into. Marketing is all about making your products attractive to a target consumer group and you won’t do that if the language you use does not fit the community you are aiming to reach. Think of just how American English is different from U.K. or Australian English. Adapting the language used to fit who you want to sell to makes sense. This is something that you will have to do if you are going to have a physical presence in the area you are expanding your business into. Business translation services will be needed to ensure you have sufficient clear documentation to set up an office legitimately and employ local staff. Most translators tend to specialize in a specific field, such as legal translation, marketing translation and so on. You may need to use different translators if you want to have a local presence beyond just an online presence. For example, you may need to employ technical translators if you are going to provide a back up repair and maintenance service for your products. There are ways of communicating which don’t rely on verbal or text communication. When communicating with markets where your language is not used, effective use of graphics and visual images can do the job as well as an audio or simple text.
Here are some tips to improve the effectiveness of your business translation.Tip#1 Don’t make your target market too broad
Tip#2 Spend time understanding the local dialects, culture and language nuances
Tip#3 Translate all your business documents into the language of the target market
Tip #4 You may need to use a specialized translator
Tip# 5 Use visuals and graphics liberally
